The Humber Electrical Engineering Company was established as an electrical contracting outfit to cater to the local Yorkshire and Humberside market. It’s founder couldn’t have envisaged the changes it would go through from a purely services based provider to a highly specialised bespoke manufacturer of Electrical Control systems, MCC’s, Bridge Consoles and all-round panel manufacturer.
After leaving Earles Shipyard, William Shuttleworth started his own company – Humber Electrical Engineering – in 1908. The company grew from strength to strength, moving into the centre of Hull. Major expansion occurred 1939 onwards when Humber Electrical became heavily involved in the War effort. This heritage kept HEECO closely linked to the defence sector and over the decades expanded our business in to the UK and foreign Navies.
The business finally swapped hands in 2012/13 when the current owners Bryan Irving and Ian Morl became custodians of this iconic Yorkshire Brand.
We have strengthened our core capabilities in the marine sector and have the understanding and design prowess to provide full electrical packages for our Naval clients, increased exposure in the Luxury Yacht field and have provided multiple solutions to the Oil and Gas sector.
Here’s to another 100 years!
Heeco have made a company video to give you a brief overview of our manufacturing team. This will hopefully be the first of a few with areas of expertise shown in later publications.
