The Government’s Clean Growth Strategy, published in October 2017, outlines plans to help UK businesses to tap into opportunities presented by the global ‘low carbon’ economy, especially by encouraging investment in electric cars and offshore wind farm technology.
The report claims the costs in the offshore wind sector have halved in ‘just a few years’ and is predicting significant growth in the area. It hopes this will be aided by offering subsidies totalling £557m – and with more to follow in Spring 2019.
It is hoped the drive will help to generate an additional 10 gigawatts of capacity on the grid.
